French Cheese

France is well-known for its exquisite cheeses. We have gathered together many of the different kinds of French cheese on this site for your shopping convenience. You will not be disappointed in these!

The French take their cheese seriously; so much, in fact, that there are 56 cheeses classified, protected, and regulated under French law. Most of them are classified as Appellation d’origine controlee (AOC), which is the highest level of legal protection.

Ten of the most popular French cheeses are Camembert, Brie de Meaux, Roquefort, Boursin, Reblochon, Munster, Pont l’Eveque, Epoisses, Chevre, and Tomme de Savoie. There are nearly 1,000 more cheeses that France claims to produce.
